Description:
Buffalo Springfield’s legacy stands among the tallest in rock history. So what if “For What It’s Worth” was the band’s only Top-10 single? The three albums they released in 19 months between 1967 and ’68 rank among the decade’s rock cornerstones, alongside seminal LPs from the likes of The Byrds, Hendrix, Love, and The Doors.
Founded in L.A. by a handful of ex-folkies inspired by The Beatles, Bob Dylan, and the Sunset Strip club scene, Buffalo Springfield crafted a brilliant and utterly original synthesis of pop, rock, folk, country, and psychedelic elements. Their rich musical tapestry reflected the eclectic tastes of the band’s membership—Neil Young, Stephen Stills, Richie Furay, Dewey Martin, Bruce Palmer, and later Jim Messina—almost all of whom went on to make even more rock history.
Rhino is pleased to say that the long wait is over! Compiled and produced by Neil Young, this first-ever complete career retrospective brings together the band’s first two albums, Buffalo Springfield (mono) and Buffalo Springfield Again (stereo)—both remastered in their entirety—along with 36 previously unreleased tracks, including demos, outtakes and alternate mixes. Deluxe packaging includes liner notes by Buffalo Springfield historian Ken Voila, plus tons of photos and rare memorabilia.
