There's so much speculation, rumour and discussion about December 10th's Led Zeppelin reunion for the Tribute To Ahmet Ertegun show at London's O2 Arena, we thought it'd be a good time to hear what the band themselves have to say about it.
Robert Plant: "There'll be one show and that'll be it. We need one last great show because we've done some shows and they've been crap." (Uncut)
Jimmy Page: "After John Bonham's death I spent 15 years not even wanting to think about Led Zeppelin. But I also have difficulty thinking it's all over. Now at least one concert is planned and I'm incredibly happy about that."
John Paul Jones: "We had a very, very secret tryout in June just to see if it was possible and if anyone wanted to do it. And it was pretty exciting. We made all the musical cues, and we were pretty hot. The hardest step - or the most tentative step - was to actually be able to get together, the four of us, in a rehearsal room to actually play with the instruments and keep the whole damn thing under wraps." (Sun Media)
Jimmy Page on new material: "Look, I'd be really surprised if there wasn't, you know, I mean I just know the way we are." (Sun Media)
Robert Plant on Jason Bonham: "When Jason was younger and more juvenile, he thought (playing in Zeppelin) was a hereditary situation. But now, Jason knows that not only is he the right guy for this... he's changing it." (Rolling Stone)
John Paul Jones: "Jason has an encyclopedic recall of every live bootleg and studio outtake. Jason will go, 'In 1971, you did it this way, and in 1973, at so-and-so auditorium, you did it this way into that." (Rolling Stone)
Jimmy Page on breaking his finger: "Led Zeppelin have always set very high standards for ourselves, and we feel that this postponement will enable my injury to properly heal, and permit us to perform at the level that both the band and our fans have always been accustomed to."
Robert Plant: "I just hope we all have fun. Let's face it, so many people want to go to the thing. How about if it's fantastic? The anticipation is incredibly overwhelming for me. And all I want to do is have some fun." (WNYC)
